NUTRITION NOTE

The molasses used as the sweetener of choice in this recipe has some surprising yet amazing health benefits. Molasses is made from boiling down the juice of sugar cane or sugar beets to remove the sugar crystals. What’s left is a thick, viscous substance with a deep, complex and sweet flavor—along with a nice bit of nutrition! One tablespoon of molasses boasts 10% DV of calcium, 8% DV of Vitamin B6, 10% DV of magnesium, and a whopping 20% DV of iron—making it a great choice of sweetener for those struggling with anemia.
